When a person calls who is frustrated with the lack of services, unmet needs, etc., staff respond with caring and do not react negatively but help the person clarify their needs and sort out how NAAP can help. Wowacintanka- Appreciative- Staff must be aware of all known resources to make appropriate referrals. Staff will provide inspiration and support to help people through difficult times. Wo ohola- Conscious of great things - Staff will hold the people we work with in high esteem. Staff will respond in a timely manner to requests and will be up front about limitations and barriers related to providing services. Woyuonihan- Honor- Staff will honestly convey to youth, families and persons with disabilities, agencies and others what we can and cannot do in relation to services, partnerships and volunteerism. Staff will work within their limits of expertise and not commit themselves or the organization to endeavors that are beyond the scope of our mission. Wotehila- Keep someone in your heart, even through difficulty - Staff will be ever mindful that the persons we work with are beloved by their family, community and as such will be treated as cherished individuals. Woicicupi- Giving of yourself – Staff will go above and beyond minimum expectations of services to insure that youth, families and persons with disabilities needs are met, and that the organization has been represented to the best of the staff’s ability. Staff shall hold each other to high standards in regards to volunteerism and giving back to the organization and community. Wowicake – Truth- Staff will be realistic about our individual abilities, services and supports available through the organization. Wowaunsila – Compassion – Staff will provide services with kindness and consideration for youth, families, and persons with disabilities. Woohitika – Courage- Staff will expand their knowledge and understanding of the needs of person with disabilities, youth and families. Staff will overcome personal fears and improve skills to provide the best services. Canlwasake/Cantewasaka – Fortitude- Staff will see goals, projects and services through to completion in spite of difficulties and challenges. Tawacinwaste – Generosity – Staff give time, talents, and resources to further the mission of the organization and to help improve relations between communities, groups, and cultures. Woksape – Wisdom- Staff will use their knowledge and individual talents not as a sword to degrade, but to educate, encourage, empower, and bring together families, youth, and persons with disabilities.
