wicotitiwahe@goldenwest.net Hello all. My name is Ashley Hanson. I’ve been employed with NAAP since January 2009 and prior to that, I volunteered my time helping with the first youth camps in 2008. I grew up in Milk’s Camp Community on my parent’s ranch, learning how to take care of our cows and horses. I graduated from Bonesteel-Fairfax High School in 2002, then attended Western Dakota Tech for Auto-Tech in fall of 2002 through 2004. After graduating in 2004 I became employed at Pete’s Taxidermy for a hunting season. There, I painted details on all different birds and made scenery for their stands. There was always a lot to do and it was always interesting work. Auto - Tech has turned into more of a hobby as now I'm teaching youth how to care for horses and eventually working them up to riding on their own, as a Equine Assistant Specialist. I enjoy being outdoors with all the critters and working with youth from the different reservations. We also had a few people come to our camps from outside the reservation. It’s been a good road (learning experience) and I hope it just keeps getting better. I’ve attended a few trainings in the Equine field and am hoping to attend more as we are starting to work with more youth and disabled youth. Trainings: 2008 Equine Assisted Learning Training, 2009 QPR-Suicide Prevention Training, 2009 CPI-Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
